Title:Mustard Seed City. Acrylic on unmounted Canvas. 2Χ3m
The painting is called Mustard seed City, (a homage to New York’s Abstract expressionism, hotdogs and 9/11). It show's a wall from a wooden shack. Through a round hole in the wall you can see an airplane hitting the twin towers, while different elements shower the plain of the painting and a giant black mustard seed on a plate is hovering in the centre in glory. But there is a twist: This work was done on the spot, at a cultural centre, so I asked it's visitors to collaborate and paint a shoe (any kind the visitor wanted but at points I would specify) and then sign it. The shoes symbolize victims of 9/11 and the element of individuality that is very vivid and pronounced in doodles done by regular people, meaning non painters that haven't mechanized and depersonalized their hand gesture through training.
